p90x3_headerThat’s right! P90X3 is coming out, guns ablazin’, just in time for it to show up under your tree Christmas morning! (and just in time to work off any holiday weight and start that New Year’s resolution off with a bang!)

But, like any normal human, you have questions, right? Well I’m here to, hopefully, answer those in this list of

20 Things to Know About P90X3:

  1. All workouts are 30 minutes long (X3 Ab ripper is 15 minutes!)
  2. The warm-up is 2 minutes and then constant work for the remaining 28 minutes…
  3. There is a separate warm-up disk called Cold Start if you need a longer warm-up due to environment, time of day, etc.
  4. P90X3 is a separate program from P90X and P90X2, not a harder version – it is for ALL LEVELS of fitness. And no, you DON’T have to have complete P90X or P90X2 in order to begin/enjoy/succeed in P90X3.
  5. P90X3 is a 90 day program, split into 3 blocks. Blocks 1 & 2 are 4 weeks and Block 3 is 5 weeks.
  6. There are 16 workouts in the P90X3 base System plus a bonus P90X One-on-One Leg DVD.
  7. The Deluxe package has 3 extra routines for a total of 20.
  8. P90X3 will include a new Pilates-based workout.
  9. P90X3 will also include an all new Isometrics workout- A New Strength/Balance/Flexibility workout with Static Holds.
  10. It will include CVX: Cardiovascular Extreme – a Cardio workout with weights.
  11. P90X3 has MMX – a Mixed Martial Arts Extreme that expands the Kenpo workout.

Now…to preface this blogpost, I know what it really comes down to, is priorities. If you can honestly tell me and yourself that your health is a TOP priority for you, you’re going to find a way to fit Shakeology into your budget. If you’re not ready to face facts about your state of health, that’s fine. I’m here when you’re ready to change it around! :) And I’d LOVE to help you and educate you on building a healthier, happier YOU!

dinein_carryout1. Dine-In/Carry-Out – Take a look at how much you’re spending on going out to eat each week. Whether it’s just you or your entire family, restaurant [and even fast food] dining can put quite a dip in your monthly “budget”. Shakeology’s less than $4.50 a serving/meal/day, and it has WAY MORE vitamins, minerals, and nutrients than ANYTHING you could order and eat at a restaurant. I don’t know about you, but where could you possibly get a meal for $4.33? So not only is restaurant food expensive, but, more often than not, you don’t even know where that food is coming from and/or how it’s being prepared! At least with Shakeology, you know it’s made from 100% whole foods and sourced from the best possible places all over the world!

 

coffee2. Starbucks [and the like] – So maybe you don’t go out to eat very often — good for you! But guess what? Those daily [and sometimes 2-3 times a day] trips to Starbucks/Dunkin’ Donuts/Peet’s/Caribou/etc. are just as bad!! How much do you pay for just ONE of those fru-fru drinks?! At least $4, right? Coffee of any kind doesn’t fill you up like a meal does. Then you say “But I need my caffeine or I won’t be able to function!” So completely untrue. The reason your body is tired, is because you’re fueling it with toxic things like coffee and processed foods. If you start fueling your body with actual nutrients, it won’t “need” coffee/caffeine in order to “function” — it will be functioning just fine when you start adding Shakeology to your morning routine. With Shakeology, it’s consumed like a beverage, but very much holds its own in the meal department. So consider it your coffee replacement! BOOM.

 

bartab3. Alcohol – This is for all of you that still go out drinking every weekend. Heck — even just 2 weekends a month! Again, I’m just challenging you to take a step back, and see what kind of cash you’re spending every month on your nails, toenails, hair, tanning, etc.

 

gym7. Gym Memberships – Now these are only a waste of money if you 1. Never go to the gym or 2. Have been going to the gym 6 times a week for 6 months, and haven’t noticed any changes/improvements in your body and/or health. So cancel the monthly gym membership you never use, and use that money to buy yourself monthly ShakeO. Being BFFs with Your Body

I touched on this subject, just a little bit, last week in a Facebook post…but there was just so much more I wanted to say and elaborate on, that I decided to write a blogpost about it. So here it goes!

Every single day — and usually more than once a day — I see my Facebook friends/acquaintances posting about how they’re sick…tired…not feeling so hot…going to the doctor (again)…complaining about “allergies”…whining that their bodies don’t look as good as they’d like them to…etc. More often than not, these are the same people that are constantly posting what they’re eating on a daily basis — often accompanied with the infamous food photo — and it’s almost always from a restaurant, and/or cheese- or “cream”-laden, and/or fried, and/or without a single vegetable on their plates. (Corn and potatoes don’t count as vegetables, people). It’s times like these when I wish I could leave a comment saying, “This is why you’re always sick.” or “This is why you aren’t losing weight – no matter how much time you’re spending in the gym.” or “And you wonder why you’re tired and achy all the time…” But I bite my tongue, and try to post about healthier alternatives on my own page (so as not to single-out anybody)…in the hopes that they’ll see it.
This is how it works:
1. You consume toxic “food”. (i.e. junk food, processed food, fast food, sugar, salt, etc.)
2. Your body recognizes this “food” as toxins (because they are), and so your body works to attack these foreign invaders so they don’t do as much damage as they potentially could/can.
3. Because your body’s so busy working on combatting these food toxins you insist on consuming, your body gets distracted and, in turn, becomes more susceptible to viruses and other such diseases [contagious or not] — YOUR BODY CAN’T DO IT ALL – try as it might!
4. YOU GET SICK.

So many people are on medication for EVERYTHING these days! Cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar, thyroid, diabetes, depression, fibromyalgia, constipation, arthritis, libido, lethargy, IBS, allergies, acne…the list goes on and on and on! And I gotta ask: WHY would you rather take in these toxic medications everyday for the rest of your life — medications that only mask the symptoms and don’t actually HEAL you — instead of going to the root cause of your problems?! Do you know what the explanation is for about 90% of your symptoms?? YOUR NUTRITION (or lack thereof). Wouldn’t you rather learn how to properly fuel your body so that it doesn’t retaliate by making you miserable?! YOU ONLY HAVE ONE BODY; YOU HAVE TO TREAT IT WELL IF YOU WANT THE SAME IN RETURN. These medications are only making things worse. Not only is the “food” you’re consuming toxic, but these medications are even MORE toxic — and as all of these toxins build up over years and years of consumption, you’re getting more and more sick!! NO JOKE. Yup, these medicines are making you more sick.

So. Whether we’ve talked recently, haven’t talked in months/years, or have never even met — I WANT TO HELP YOU. I want to educate you on how to live your healthiest life. Nobody should have to succumb to pills, shots, scans, and/or monthly doctors’ visits. FOOD CAN HEAL YOU! Scratch that. PROPER NUTRITION CAN HEAL YOU! And on that note, I will say this: In the past few weeks, I have had more people reach out to me asking for my help, than ever before. And I LOVE IT!! I LOVE helping people reach their full potential — and not have to pop pills in order to do so! It pains me to see that it took them reaching their health’s “rock bottom”, if you will, but it’s better late than never! And it CAN be reversed!

So help me help you. Reach out to me. Don’t be scared or ashamed — I wasn’t always healthy myself! But I did my research, I learned how to properly fuel my body so that it loves me back, and then I love it even more. We all have to start somewhere — so why not ask for help? I’m here. <3

Sugar-free, Gluten-free Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Balls [Updated]

I know it’s been a hot minute since my last blogpost, but at least I come bearing delicious, healthy goodies, right?! :)

Behold: Healthy Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Balls (for an addition to Shakeology ice cream, or the like)
“Wait. Healthy peanut butter cookie dough balls?! Shakeology ice cream?!” you say. YES! It’s true! Read on…and be mindful of the saliva that will start to accumulate in your mouth. ;)

But first, here’s a little back story for you:

Every year for the past 8 years, I’ve been joining my boyfriend/fiance/husband and his family at Cape Cod every Summer. And before I “turned Vegan,” there was an ice cream parlor I would insist we go to almost every night (for dessert, of course) during our stay. Obviously, that ice cream parlor is still there, still thriving — with or without my business, haha — but alas, ice cream is dairy. (and so far, there are no dairy-free ice cream flavor options available). This past August, we traveled across the country to stay in Cape Cod for two weeks, and I told myself that I was allowed a lobster (one lobster a year won’t hurt me, right? lol who knows), and ONE TRIP to the Ben & Bill’s Chocolate Emporium. The lobster was consumed about 5 days into the vacation…but I waited til the last night to do the ice cream (in fear that I’d “allow” myself more trips to the Emporium as the vacation continued, had I traveled there early on). Of course, I got my absolute favorite ice cream flavor of ALL TIME — a flavor I’ve only ever seen at Ben & Bill’s — Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Ice Cream. It’s everything you’d ever want in an ice cream: the base is a chocolate ice cream…then there are chocolate chips, chunks of just peanut butter, and then, of course, balls of peanut butter cookie dough! Yeah. ::drool:: So having been inspired after returning home to San Francisco, I decided to come up with my own Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Ice Cream: the Shakeology Version.

**I may have just posted this recipe 3 days ago, but I have since come up with an improved concoction! See below!**

Ingredients:
2 Tbsp 3 Tbsp Peanut Flour
1 Tbsp Oat Flour (rolled oats ground into flour)
1/4-1/2 tsp Powdered Stevia
*new addition* 2 pinches of Himalayan Salt (no more using table salt, people! EVER!)
Plant-based milk of choice (oat, almond, coconut, hemp, etc.)
Cacao Nibs (optional)

Directions:
Measure out flours peanut flour, Himalayan salt, and stevia into a small bowl and mix together.

Then, 1 Tbsp at a time, add just enough milk to moisten flour mixture so you’re able to form a large ball like this:

Then pinch off pieces from the large dough ball, to make small dough balls (you can make them as large or as small as you’d like). I’ve made 12 larger ones before…and this time, I made about 24 smaller ones:

If you so desire, add 2 or 3 cacao pieces to each dough ball: (I like just adding my cacao nibs into the ice cream itself)

Then allow to freeze for a few hours so they have a nice texture when you bite into them whilst indulging in the ice cream.

 

Not sure how to make Shakeology Ice Cream?
There are loads of different ways, but my current concoction consists of:
1.25 cups unsweetened vanilla oat milk (homemade)
2 Tbsp chia seeds
1 scoop Shakeology Boost: The Fiber
1 scoop Chocolate Vegan Shakeology
1/2 tsp Double Dark Chocolate Mate Super Tea Booster
LOTS of ice

I think you may need a heavy duty blender like a Vitamix or Nutribullet or something — for it to blend to the right ice cream consistency — but I could be wrong. But yeah, just blend away until it turns into a thick ice cream/milkshake consistency. Pour into a mug/bowl, and add your cookie dough balls and/or cacao nibs AFTER.

Disclaimer: I haven’t tried it with normal, all-natural peanut butter…but I’m assuming you’d omit the milk, and just add more oat flour until it’s no longer too sticky to roll into balls.

Beachbody Coach Summit: 2013 Report – Part 2

My apologies for the delay! I know I said I’d have a Part 2 for you last week, but I got so caught up in all of you signing up to be in my next Fit Challenge, that I’m just now getting around to writing. (Never a bad thing) :)

In Part 1, I highlighted what all I did and what all I learned — my “takeaways” if you will. For this 2nd part, I wanted to highlight the “extras” — the parties, the celebrations, the $100,000 giveaways, and the Top Coach awards. Beachbody not only knows how to get you fit, healthy, and successful in the most efficient way possible, but they also know how to party and reward hard work and accomplishments!

So the first official kick-off night of Beachbody Summit, was the White Party. You earned an invitation to the White Party through Success Club qualification for the months of April & May. Success Club is something we Beachbody Coaches strive for every month — it’s sort of a tally we keep of how many people we’ve been able to help get closer to reaching their health & fitness goals each month. :) I didn’t quite make the qualifications, but my upline Coach, Betsy, did! And being the generous friend she is, she invited me to be her “plus one”. :) Anyway, we all dressed up in our best white dresses/gowns/suits/togas and had a great time by the pool of the MGM Grand! (no, no pictures of me specifically — sorry) Amongst the Coaches, there were also the Beachbody muckiemucks and the Celebrity Trainers!
summit_whitepartyThere was also another party, the following night, for those that are ranked Star-Diamond and above. Neither myself nor Betsy are there – yet – but we will be next year! It was at a nearby restaurant, I believe. Much more intimate setting due to much fewer Coaches being of that rank.

Then there was the final night of prizes & recognition. There was a female $100,000 winner and a male $100,000 winner. Their stories were moving and remarkable. Not only were there 2 $100,000 winners, but a handful of $25,000 runner-ups! Talk about getting paid to be healthy! That could be YOU!!

And then there were the Awards for the most profitable Coaches. There are many Coaches earning 6-figure incomes, being their own bosses, creating their own schedules — living the life by helping people. Keep in mind, the more profitable the Coach, the more people they’re helping get healthy & fit! It’s a win-win job, really! That’s why I LOVE being a Beachbody Coach! I’d love to help you get on the bandwagon of helping End the Trend of Obesity too! Just message me on Facebook! :) So there were many awards given away that night…but the most fun to watch was the extravagant “parade” they put out for the Top Coach of the Year. Wayne Wyatt was not only the Top Coach for this past year, but also earned Top Coachdom the year prior. He’s a quiet, humble guy…but I really admired his speech. I strongly encourage you to watch it. It’s a great summary of how great of a company Beachbody is…and just how awesomely motivational (and weird) our CEO, Carl Daikeler, is. (video courtesy of @joeonfitness)

Beachbody Coach Summit: 2013 Report – Part 1

Whew! I don’t even know where to begin with this post! My mind’s still going a hundred miles an hour — full of excitement, ideas, dreams, goals, and more excitement! So it’s fitting that Summit’s theme this year was “Dream Big”. I think my favorite part about attending the annual Coach Summit…and then the quarterly Super Saturdays…is being surrounded by like-minded people. People/Coaches that want to help anyone and everyone that are willing to help themselves get healthy and take control of their health and their lives. I know that’s a goal and passion of mine — to help people realize and reach their full health potential. There are plenty of people that don’t understand why I do what I do…and there are plenty of people that don’t take me up on my offer to help them get healthy…and that makes me sad. But if you aren’t in the mindset to really take charge and kick your bad habits to the curb, then it doesn’t matter how great the offer, you’re going to pass it up…unfortunately. But always know, that no matter how many times you turn me down, I’ll be here for you when you’re ready! Really! No hard feelings; I just want to help. Who knows?! Maybe this exciting blogpost about how amazingly fun Summit was this year, will get you fired up!! :)

Body Beast Classic & Beachbody Gear Fashion Show

This was the first night. It was SO MUCH FUN. With the launch of Body Beast last year, Beachbody decided to put on the first-ever [expected to be annual] Body Beast Classic. Everybody who had purchased Body Beast was able to enter and participate in the contest. It was awesome to see friends and fellow coaches get up there and strut their hard-earned bodies. The Beast himself, Sagi Kalev, was there to award the winners with trophies!!
To follow the Classic, was a fun Fashion Show to show off all of the new Beachbody Gear — themed after all of the most popular Beachbody Programs. (i.e. TurboFire, Brazil Butt Lift, P90X, T25, Insanity, etc.) Not only that, but the Trainers themselves made their own cameos for their corresponding lines. ShaunT break-danced, Leandro salsa’d, and Tony did some trapeze action! It was very entertaining — and colorful! :)

My upline Coach, Betsy, and I sported these fabulously-clever t-shirts. We tracked down Carl, the CEO of Beachbody, as soon as he was done speaking at our Friday morning Team Empire meeting. He was making the rounds that morning, so he was running from engagement to engagement…but when he saw our shirts, he gladly obliged — jokingly saying, “Oh my wife’s gonna love this…” :) Thanks again for the photo op, Carl!!

Super Workout with 6,000+ Coaches & 10 Celebrity Trainers

2013_SuperWorkoutWe did it again! For the 2nd year in a row, Beachbody took over the Las Vegas Strip with a Saturday Morning “Super Workout”. I’m not gonna lie…it. was. HOT!! From 6:30am-8:00am, we worked out with Slim in 6’s Debbie Seibers, Brazil Butt Lift’s Leandro Carvalho, Les Mills: PUMP’s Joel, Susan & Jericho, Les Mills: COMBAT’s Dan & Rach, TurboFire’s Chalene Johnson, Insanity’s Shaun T, and P90X’s Tony Horton. It was a rush to see all of these people, in the middle of Sin City, getting their sweat on at 6:30 on a Saturday morning. I got a little sun, as you can see, but it was a great time getting to work out with my Upline Coach, Betsy, and my personally-sponsored Coach, Jenna!

On top of all of these workouts, I managed to walk 27 miles in 4 days! Let that be a lesson to any of you that are planning on going to Summit next year…or just taking a trip to Vegas in general. Be prepared to do a lot of walking. And for those of you that like to wear heels, I recommend packing some flip flops in your purse for the walk home.
